This past weekend, November 11th was Veteran's Day as well as the 1st annual Gresham Beer Fest and both were great!
Team Truck Melanoma was the title charity for the event and was able to put an awesome outreach event during the beer fest that offered free skin exams for the duration of the event. Here are the numbers and the impact that we had! IMPACT: Total screenings (Free skin exams): 25 Concerning skin issues identified: 1 suspected melanoma, 1 atypical nevus, 1 SCC (squamous cell carcinoma), 3 BCC's (basal cell carcinoma- most common type of skin cancer), and 3 Actinic Keratoses- (pre-cancerous skin lesions) Total interactions at the booth: 91 This means that for 2023 our team has facilitated 5 outreach events, 4 of which have offered free skin exams with the help of local dermatologists allowing our team to have helped identify 8 potential melanoma skin cancers and 16 potential non-melanoma skin cancers. This is incredible! I do not know if we could ask for a more impressive first year! One thing that I would like to ask is that you consider making a donation to help us continue to grow and continue to be able to reach people and potentially save lives by helping to identify these skin lesions that will need to be further addressed. Your donation 100% goes toward furthering our mission, and we cannot do what we do without your support. Rember, we are a 501(c)(3) so your donations are deductible. Stay tuned for what we bring in the future!
